Background

The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) is a new 46km dual carriageway proposed jointly by the Scottish Government, Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council. The route, running to the West of Aberdeen, comprises three sections:

  • Northern Leg (Blackdog to North Kingswells)

  • Southern Leg (North Kingswells to Charleston)

  • Fastlink (Cleanhill to Stonehaven)

Draft Orders for the AWPR were published in September and October 2007 and a statutory consultation took place.

The Scottish Government has subsequently announced a Public Local Inquiry into the scheme and appointed Mr David N Gordon BSc (Hons) MSc MRTPI and Mr Scott Ferrie MSc MRTPI to hold the inquiry and report to Ministers.
